Carolyn and Joel at The Garrison

Carolyn and Joel are delightful together and apart. They compliment each other in the best ways.

Carolyn got dressed at the Garrison, while Joel was at a nearby hotel.

The first look took place under the shade trees to keep everyone cool. We made our way down hill to the big view later for a few group photos and to capture the scenery. This is where we used the drone for a brief time. I love drone images but never want the distraction during the ceremony. (They can be pretty noisy). Family photos were taken in front of the iconic stone gazebo. As the afternoon grew late the light became soft and lovely.

As the time for the ceremony approached, the day  was so   beautiful, clear and blue .As Carolyn walked down the aisle to meet Joel, everything was perfect. The Flowers adorning the wooden "Huppa" were stunning. I could here the guests whispering that the view was amazing, and then when Carolyn  was midway down the aisle the crowd was awed by how beautiful she looked. Radiant might be a cliche but true.

The Barns at Liberty Farm Ghent NY ( Alex and Victoria)

Alex and Victoria came to me by route of Alex's sister's wedding, 7 years ago. This wedding was to be very different then that Brooklyn Botanical Garden winter affair.

This wedding took place on a farm, Liberty Farm, with horses and a glorious barn, with decorated horse paddocks, filled with antique furniture. This wedding had a sunset to die for, a sweet view and farm fences.

Victoria wore a lovely easy to be in, lace gown and adorned her hair with a delicate flower wreath. Alex, hipster from Brooklyn, wore a elegant slim fitting blue suit, white and blue patterned shirt, blue tie and fabulous brown leather shoes.

CHeck out the sunset-amazing only begins to describe it. I shot this with a movie light to keep the warmth of the setting sun and not introduce the blue light of a flash. I also went for the very blue light of dusk, immediately following the colorful sunsetting sky.

the barn was trickey, honey warm in color and we did create quite a few black and white images, lit carefully with movie lighting to create a 50's look, akin to the furnishings and design of the evening

Making Your Photography Experience Fun, Easy and Comfortable

There are so many photographers you may choose from.  We come from many difference walks of life from Urban hipster to a quiet country shooter. So many options, so many different prices.

I have learned as an experienced shooter that to capture  the intimate moments we desperately want to document, a couple needs to feel safe in our presence.

At our first shoot, usually an engagement session, I take time to get to know my "subjects"

I know how difficult it can be to be in front of  a lens, waiting for that awful click when you just. know you made a bad face. I know how self conscious it feels to stand still for what seems like a eternity. I know how bad  we can feel when we see a less then flattering images of ourselves.

The one constant comment I hear always is" That was so much fun"  and "I love these, how did you make us laugh so hard?" "I actually love these and I hate all pictures of myself"

I think it is the ability to listen and really be present with you. I want to hear your story, and be more then some hired hand, but a photographer that actually blends into the wedding without standing out or being in the way. After initial prep shots, everyone stops posing and let's me be as a fly on the wall-there but unnoticed, unless I am helping dry a bouquet or smooth a dress.

Here a few moments that I was lucky enough to be able to witness, without anyone feeling as though they had to hide the emotions from me or my camera.

A Tribeca Affair

Katie wanted a Non wedding wedding. A party without too many bells and whistles, but a party shared with dearest friends and family. She and Alan picked mark Forgione Restaurant in Tribeca, for both its warm ambiance, dark brick and woods, as well as its amazing food.

Family stayed nearby at the Hotel Conrad, a huge new building that was able to accommodate everyone in one place.

The couple looked completely stunning, Katie in a silk satin retro styled gown. Being a fashion stylist in NYC, she has the best esthetic, unmatched fashion flair. Alan had a custom made dinner jacket in silver blue. He was one handsome dude, dressed in tuxedo pants with that stunning coat.

The restaurant was adorned simply, candles, lovely flowers, family photos. It needed so very little.

The only time of the day where I was noticeable was actually as we did the portraits on the streets of Tribeca. Family joined us in front of what was once a warehouse building and now High end lofts. It still had that urban feel that Katie and Alan were looking for.

The DJ for the reception was much more of a club DJ and really had the party rocking. I was so impressed with the flow of the music. He had the best timing.

Tribeca will never be the same after this crowd descended upon the street and made their way across the street to the local bar for a wild funny after party.

Adam and Jaime are married

This was a wedding close to my heart in many ways. First I have known the Adams  mom since childhood, and seen the joy this family always bring to everywhere they are.

The day of the wedding was dark and rainy. We really thought all the formal portraits of the day would be taken indoors, but nature provided a break. The day was warm at least.

Jaime was absolutely radiant in her lace and beaded strapless gown. she wore her hair half down and it was so natural and uncontrived, yet elegant.

Adam was very handsome in his black tux. I loved seeing the photos of Davey assisting him dress. This was just 6 weeks out from Davey's  heart surgery and he did not miss a beat. It was awe inspiring.Even doing the hora was in his playbook.

The flowers and Chupa during the ceremony and reception were stunning. and the BAND..OMG, the night was made all the better by that fantastic music.

I know Jaime will be a wonderful partner to Adam. She has already shown her love and support in so many ways, from helping him heal after a torn achilles to just being a fun and loving partner

Adam is kind and smart and funny. I love them both
