The Process

What to expect

First Conversation

At the first wedding consultation we discuss what is most important to you .  We decide if a second shooter will be helpful and check the schedule  to plan how many hours you will need us to create a collection that tells the story of your day. Most weddings fall between 8 and 10 hours.  With our extensive experience we are able to guide you in creating a good timeline for the wedding day, one where you will be able to relax and enjoy every minute.

The Agreement

After our first wedding consultation,  which may be phone, email or Skype, a contract is delivered. A retainer of one third holds the date for you. Congratulations on a great choice.

Engagement shoot

We schedule the engagement shoot if one is desired. This is  a nice way to get comfortable with me and I with you. Generally I allow around 2 hours, and we can decide on location and  wardrobe etc. We might pop into a bistro or bar for a drink to calm your nerves, or go get cupcakes and cookies.

After the shoot we talk about what you loved and those  not so much.  We discuss how hair and makeup looked in camera, and what to be aware of.

Planning  the Timeline

We plan our time for taking the required family photos and portraits of your wedding entourage. We also plan a time for a first look, if you will be doing this. With a first look all the family photos and portraits are done prior to guests arrival and ceremony. Many modern couples  do a first look so they can attend all of cocktails. That said, I love the way a groom sees his bride for the first time in her gown, walking down the aisle. We can arrange to do the portraits after the ceremony efficiently too, especially if the ceremony is in a church or temple.

Consultation before the wedding

We will chat several times after this and approximately one month before the wedding we will have a final meeting to plan family photos, prepare the start time for prep shots, and all the rest of wedding day specifics. We are always available if you need a little hand holding, vendor recommendations, ideas of places to take portraits, etc. Nothing is considered silly or unimportant. Wedding planning takes a lot of time and effort and we are here for you.

Of course all of our meetings may be done by email or phone if it is inconvenient to meet.

Wedding Day

On the day of the wedding I bring the  list of must have family photos which you have provided and we coordinate those quickly. Portraits are usually done in a light hearted and timely fashion, but we can get as creative as time allows. I always like to see my couples get to cocktails to enjoy them with the guests.I also bring a bag of tricks- beautiful French velvet ribbons, linen or a velvet board to lay your beautiful accessories, like your necklace, rings ,invitation etc. I encourage to bring your Invitation set for us to include in your image collection.

Post Wedding

Following the wedding you will receive notification once the photos are posted on your personal webpage. Images are provided in a timely fashion. You will get the high resolution images to download. (with a personal pin number), as well as a USB flashdrive if required.

Album Planning and Production

The fun starts with album selections. Once I have those I design an album for you , and send you a draft of the layout. You may make up to two full changes to the album design before we send the pages to the  album company for printing and binding. This heirloom album is produced by the world's finest album makers and it will be something you will cherish. Parent books may also be ordered. I carefully process the images to create a cohesive collection-everything is made print ready for you, and you can share these to you hearts delight.

Images are stored for two years in the cloud, and in my studio on several hard drives.
